ESAB Welding and Cutting Equipment

ESAB (Elektriska Svetsnings-Aktiebolaget) is a global leader in the production of welding and cutting equipment and consumables. Founded in 1904 by Oscar Kjellberg in Gothenburg, Sweden, the company became famous for inventing the world's first coated welding electrode.

Today, ESAB operates as an independent, publicly traded entity known as ESAB Corporation. While it has deep Swedish roots, the corporate headquarters are now located in North Bethesda, Maryland, USA. The company maintains a massive global manufacturing footprint with over 28 facilities located across Europe, North America, South America, and Asia to serve customers in approximately 150 countries.

Historically, ESAB was part of Charter International before being acquired by Colfax Corporation in 2012. In April 2022, Colfax (now rebranded as Enovis) spun off its fabrication technology business into what is now the independent ESAB Corporation. The brand continues to grow through strategic acquisitions, such as the German premium welding technology provider EWM GmbH in 2025.
