8848 Altitude is a premium Swedish brand specializing in technical skiwear and outdoor apparel, founded in 1990 by Magnus Berggren. The brand was established following the first successful Swedish expedition to Mount Everest—the summit of which sits at an altitude of 8,848 meters, giving the brand its name. Over more than three decades, it has become synonymous with high-end Scandinavian design, functional performance, and a meticulous focus on fit.

In late 2025, the brand entered a new era when it was acquired by the Dutch action sports company Protest Sportswear, which is part of the Dekker Group (Dekker Olifanta B.V.). This acquisition was designed to elevate the group's presence in the premium technical segment. While ownership is now Dutch, the brand maintains its creative roots in Sweden, with the Swedish team continuing to lead design through the 2026/2027 collections to ensure its Scandinavian DNA remains intact.

Manufacturing of 8848 Altitude products is distributed globally to leverage specialized expertise. Technical fabrics are primarily sourced from South Korea, while final garment assembly takes place in countries including China, Vietnam, India, Italy, Sweden, and the Baltic states.
