Pfanni is a quintessential German brand founded in 1948 by Otto Eckart in Munich. It revolutionized the German kitchen by introducing convenient potato-based products like dumpling mixes and instant mashed potatoes. The brand became a household name for its high quality and use of German-grown potatoes.

In 1993, the family-owned company was acquired by CPC (later Bestfoods), which in turn was acquired by the British-Dutch multinational Unilever in 1999/2000. Today, Pfanni remains a major brand within Unilever's food portfolio. While Unilever is a global company, Pfanni products continue to be strongly associated with their German roots, with the majority of production still taking place in Germany using German raw materials.
