MD Discount private label products / retail service

MD (often known historically as MD Discount) is one of the leading discount supermarket retail chains in Italy. Founded in 1994 by entrepreneur Patrizio Podini in Mugnano di Napoli, the brand initially expanded throughout southern Italy before completing major acquisitions, notably LD Market in northern Italy in 2013, to achieve nationwide presence.

MD S.p.A. distributes an extensive selection of grocery items and consumer goods under its own exclusive private-label brands. The vast majority of its food and dairy products are manufactured under contract by leading Italian food producers, emphasizing Italian sourcing, regional specialties, and competitive pricing.

The brand is privately held by the Podini family through MD S.p.A., headquartered in Gricignano di Aversa (Caserta), Italy. It operates independently as one of Italy's premier domestic retail networks, distinct from foreign discount retailers operating in Europe.
