airBaltic (legally registered as AS Air Baltic Corporation) is the flag carrier airline of Latvia, headquartered at Riga International Airport in Mārupe Municipality near Riga. Founded in 1995 as a joint venture between the Latvian state and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), airBaltic has developed into one of the leading regional carriers connecting the Baltic region to numerous European destinations, including regular connections to and from several Italian airports such as Milan, Rome, Venice, and Verona.

The airline is primarily state-owned, with the Republic of Latvia (represented by the Ministry of Transport) holding an overwhelming majority of the shares alongside a minority institutional financial investor. As an airline service provider, its core operations, fleet management, and flight operations are coordinated out of Latvia and its operational bases in Estonia, Lithuania, and Finland.
