TYR Shoes

TYR is an American sports apparel and footwear company founded in 1985 in Huntington Beach, California, by 1972 Olympic bronze medalist Steve Furniss and swimwear designer Joseph DiLorenzo. The brand was named after the Norse god of warriors, Tyr. While originally renowned worldwide for competitive swimwear and triathlon equipment, TYR expanded aggressively into athletic footwear in recent years, designing specialized weightlifting, cross-training, and running shoes.

The brand is owned and operated by TYR Sport, Inc., which is part of the privately held swimwear and activewear group Swimwear Anywhere, Inc., based in Farmingdale, New York. In Germany and across Europe, TYR shoes and apparel are distributed through official retail partners, European branch operations, and direct-to-consumer e-commerce.

TYR footwear is predominantly manufactured internationally in facilities located across Asia, primarily China and Vietnam, in line with global athletic footwear supply chains. Please note that TYR Sport should not be confused with unaffiliated entities using the name Tyr, such as Tyr Tactical (body armor and tactical gear) or the historical Danish vehicle/bicycle manufacturer.
