The brand was originally created by the Polish company E. Wedel in the 1970s and quickly became a household staple in Poland. Over the decades, the brand has seen several changes in ownership due to corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Currently, the product is manufactured in Poland, primarily at the płońsk factory. While the brand carries a deep Polish heritage, it is now owned by the American multinational snack food powerhouse, Mondelēz International. Mondelēz acquired the brand as part of its takeover of the biscuit business from Danone, ensuring that these iconic treats are distributed not just in Poland but also to international markets catering to the Polish diaspora.
