BCR (Banca Comercială Română) Financial Services

Banca Comercială Română, commonly known as BCR, is one of the most significant financial institutions in Romania. It was founded in 1990 by taking over the commercial operations of the National Bank of Romania. Since its inception, it has grown to become a cornerstone of the Romanian banking sector, providing a wide range of retail, corporate, and investment banking services.

In 2006, the bank underwent a major transition when the Austrian Erste Group Bank AG acquired a majority stake from the Romanian government and other institutional investors. This acquisition integrated BCR into one of the largest financial services providers in Central and Eastern Europe. Today, BCR operates as the primary Romanian subsidiary of the Erste Group, leveraging international expertise while maintaining its deep roots in the local market.
