Overture is a brand name often associated with the entry-level or institutional lines of pianos produced under the umbrella of the legendary American-German company Steinway & Sons. While Steinway & Sons is renowned for its premium hand-crafted pianos made in New York and Hamburg, the Overture series is part of their broader strategy to offer quality instruments at more accessible price points through specialized manufacturing partnerships.

Traditionally, Steinway & Sons manages Three distinct tiers: the flagship Steinway, the mid-range Boston (manufactured by Kawai in Japan), and the entry-level Essex (manufactured by Pearl River in China). The Overture branding is frequently used for specific institutional rental programs or limited regional editions that utilize these global manufacturing hubs to ensure Steinway-designed specifications are met while remaining affordable. Since 1995, the brand family has been under the ownership of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc., which was acquired in 2013 by the private equity firm Paulson & Co. Inc.
