Brøndby IF football club

Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening, commonly known as Brøndby IF, is one of Denmark's most successful and popular professional football clubs. Founded in 1964 through the merger of Brøndbyøster Idrætsforening and Brøndbyvester Idrætsforening, the club is based in Brøndbyvester on the western outskirts of Copenhagen. Brøndby IF has a rich history, having won numerous Danish championships and cups, and is famous for its passionate fanbase and its rivalry with FC Copenhagen.

Historically, the club was fan-owned and later publicly traded on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. However, in late 2022, a significant shift in ownership occurred when Global Football Holdings (GFH), an American-led investment group, acquired a majority stake (approximately 50.1%) in the club. This transition was intended to provide the financial backing necessary for the club to compete at the highest level of Danish and European football. The remaining shares are held by former majority owner Jan Bech Andersen and a large group of minority shareholders, including many fans.

While the club's 'product'—its matches and sporting activities—is fundamentally Danish and based at the Brøndby Stadium, its ultimate corporate ownership now resides with Global Football Holdings. This entity is part of a multi-club ownership model involving various international investors, though Brøndby IF continues to operate with its distinct local identity and management team in Denmark.
