BKI Økologisk Ekologiskt Fairtrade Professionel coffee

BKI coffee is a long-standing Danish brand originally known as Brasil Kaffe Import. Founded in 1960 by Svend Mathiesen, the brand was established after Mathiesen spent a decade in Brazil and identified an opportunity to import high-quality Brazilian coffee beans directly to the Danish market. Over the decades, the company evolved from a local retail operation into a major industrial roastery and food supplier. In 2008, the company officially rebranded to BKI foods to reflect its expanded portfolio beyond coffee.

To this day, the brand maintains its production locally in Højbjerg, Aarhus, where it roasts, grinds, and packages coffee from beans sourced globally. BKI is notable for being one of the only large-scale coffee producers in Denmark that remains 100% Danish-owned and independent of international conglomerates. The company is currently managed and owned by the third generation of the Mathiesen family. The 'Professionel' line, including this organic and Fairtrade variant, is specifically tailored for the foodservice and wholesale sectors, emphasizing sustainability and professional-grade quality.
