Ecover is a pioneering brand in the ecological cleaning sector, founded in 1979 by Frans Bogaerts. Originally established in Malle, Belgium, the brand gained international recognition for introducing the world's first phosphate-free laundry detergent, addressing environmental concerns regarding water pollution. Its manufacturing plant in Belgium is world-renowned for its ecological architectural design, featuring a grass roof for insulation.

Over the decades, Ecover expanded its reach beyond Europe, merging its operations with the American eco-friendly brand Method in 2012. This merger created the company People Against Dirty, which significantly strengthened its market share in the sustainable home care category.

In 2017, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when it was acquired by SC Johnson. Today, Ecover continues to operate as a leading name in sustainable cleaning products, focusing on plant-based ingredients and recycled packaging, while being backed by the global logistics and distribution network of its American parent company.
