Founded in 1920 by Walter Popp in Dresden, the company initially began as a small delicatessen. Over the decades, it evolved from a local shop into a national brand, moving its main production facilities to Kaltenkirchen, Schleswig-Holstein, in 1960.

Since 1988, Popp Feinkost has been a member of the Wernsing Food Family, a large European food group headquartered in Addrup, Germany. Today, Popp remains one of the market leaders in the chilled spread and salad segment in Germany, maintaining its production base in Kaltenkirchen while benefiting from the extensive distribution network of its parent company.
