Arnott's Tim Tam is an iconic Australian chocolate biscuit consisting of two malted biscuits separated by a light chocolate cream filling and coated in a thin layer of textured chocolate. Created by Ian Norris, the food director at Arnott's, the biscuit was introduced in 1964 and famously named after the racehorse Tim Tam, winner of the 1958 Kentucky Derby.
Tim Tam biscuits are manufactured primarily in Australia across Arnott's bakery facilities, notably in Huntingwood, New South Wales, before being distributed domestically and exported globally to markets including the United Kingdom.
While Arnott's was originally established in Newcastle, Australia, in 1865 by Scottish immigrant William Arnott, it spent years under the ownership of Campbell Soup Company. In 2019, Campbell sold Arnott's and its international snack operations to the American private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), which operates the brand under The Arnott's Group.
