Africana is a well-known economy-tier chocolate and confectionery brand specifically created for the Romanian and neighboring Eastern European markets. Originating in Romania through the Brașov-based confectionery operations acquired by Kraft Foods (later Mondelez International), Africana was designed to offer affordable, everyday sweet treats such as milk chocolate tablets with raisins, peanuts, or cream fillings.

Following corporate restructurings and the closure of Mondelez's production plant in Brașov, Romania, manufacturing was relocated to regional European facilities, particularly in Ukraine (such as the Trostyanets factory) and other Central/Eastern European hubs.

Today, Africana remains a local brand in the portfolio of Mondelēz International, Inc., an American multinational food and beverage corporation based in Chicago, Illinois. In Romania, distribution and brand representation are handled through its local branch, Mondelez Romania S.R.L.
