Asiana Airlines is one of South Korea's premier full-service international carriers, operating global passenger and cargo transportation services, including regular flights connecting the United Kingdom (via London Heathrow) and Seoul Incheon International Airport.

Founded in 1988 by the Kumho Asiana Group, the airline was established to provide a modern competitive alternative in South Korean aviation. It grew into a major global carrier and a member of the Star Alliance network, recognized worldwide for its passenger services, catering, and international flight routes.

In recent years, the airline underwent a major ownership restructuring following financial challenges. South Korea's flag carrier, Korean Air (under its parent conglomerate Hanjin KAL), agreed to acquire a controlling majority stake in Asiana Airlines. Following regulatory approvals across key global jurisdictions including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States, Asiana Airlines is transitioning under the ultimate ownership of the Hanjin Group / Korean Air.
