Surly Bikes

Surly Bikes is a renowned bicycle and component brand founded in 1998 in Bloomington, Minnesota. Known for durable chromoly steel frames, touring bikes, fat bikes, and versatile utility designs, Surly helped pioneer modern gravel and fat bike culture with iconic models like the Cross-Check, Long Haul Trucker, and Pugsley.

Surly was launched and remains owned by Quality Bicycle Products (QBP), a major American distributor of bicycles and cycling components based in Bloomington, Minnesota. In the United Kingdom and across international markets, Surly frames and complete bikes are distributed through specialist cycling distributors (such as Ison Distribution in the UK) to independent bike shops.

While design, engineering, and prototyping are carried out by Surly's team in Minnesota, United States, the manufacturing of Surly steel frames and forks is carried out primarily in Taiwan, known globally for high-quality precision steel bicycle manufacturing. Note that Surly Bikes is unrelated to Surly Brewing Company, an independent American craft brewery with a similar name.
