Shiftphone is a brand of modular, sustainable, and easily repairable smartphones created by SHIFT GmbH, a German social enterprise. Founded in 2014 by brothers Carsten and Samuel Waldeck, alongside their father Rolf Waldeck, the company aims to provide fair, repairable, and eco-conscious alternatives to conventional consumer electronics.

While hardware engineering, research, and company management are centralized in Falkenberg, Germany, assembly is carried out in their own manufacturing facility in Hangzhou, China. Shift maintains strict oversight over working conditions, offering fair wages, safe labor standards, and no overtime pressure, distinguishing their production model from conventional electronics manufacturing.

SHIFT GmbH remains an independent, family- and employee-driven enterprise headquartered in Germany. Its products, including smartphones and tablets, are distributed across Europe, including direct shipping and niche sustainable electronics channels in Norway.
