Historically, the brand originated from the Milchwerke Gera, which served the East German market. Following German reunification, the brand underwent various ownership changes. Since the early 1990s, Osterland has been part of the Humana Milchunion, which later merged with Nordmilch to form DMK Deutsches Milchkontor GmbH. Today, it stands as one of the most recognized regional dairy brands in Eastern Germany, maintaining its production facilities within the country to ensure high quality and regional authenticity.
