Alpro is a pioneering brand in the plant-based food industry, originally founded in Belgium in 1980 as a subsidiary of the Vandemoortele Group. It specializes in products made from soy, almonds, hazelnuts, cashew, rice, and oats. The brand has grown into a European market leader for dairy alternatives, known for its focus on sustainability and health-conscious nutrition.

Over the decades, Alpro underwent several ownership changes. In 2009, it was acquired by the American company WhiteWave Foods. In 2017, the global food giant Danone completed the acquisition of WhiteWave Foods, bringing Alpro under its umbrella. Today, Alpro is a key brand in Danone's plant-based portfolio.

Manufacturing takes place across several European facilities to serve local markets, including major production sites in Wevelgem (Belgium), Issenheim (France), and Kettering (United Kingdom). This distributed manufacturing helps minimize the environmental footprint of logistics.
