Ribena Blackcurrant No Added Sugar Fruit Squash

Ribena is a classic British fruit drink brand, best known for its blackcurrant-based concentrates and ready-to-drink juices. The brand was originally created by Dr. Vernon Charley in 1933 at the University of Bristol and was launched commercially in 1938 by the company H.W. Carter & Co. It gained significant popularity during World War II as a source of Vitamin C for children when citrus fruits were scarce.

Over the decades, ownership of Ribena transitioned through several major pharmaceutical and consumer goods corporations, most notably SmithKline Beecham and later GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In 2013, GSK sold Ribena, along with Lucozade, to the Japanese beverage giant Suntory Holdings. Today, the brand is managed under the Suntory Beverage & Food Great Britain and Ireland subsidiary. Ribena remains deeply rooted in British manufacturing, with much of its production taking place at the Royal Forest Factory in Coleford, Gloucestershire, using blackcurrants largely sourced from British farms.
