NixOS

NixOS is a highly stable, secure, and reproducible Linux distribution based on the unique Nix package manager. Its origin journey started in 2003 as a research project by Eelco Dolstra, which eventually evolved into a community-driven powerhouse. Unlike traditional operating systems, NixOS uses a declarative configuration model, allowing users to define the entire system state in a single file and facilitating easy rollbacks.

The development and maintenance of NixOS are managed by a global community of contributors under the oversight of the NixOS Foundation. Because it is an open-source project, it does not have a traditional corporate manufacturer; instead, its 'production' occurs through distributed collaboration across various countries.
