Carte Noire is a prestigious French coffee brand established in 1978 by René Monnier. Known for its 'Nom d'un café' marketing and premium positioning, it has become a staple of French coffee culture.

The brand's manufacturing center is primarily located in Lavérune, France, where it maintains high standards for roasting and production. Ownership of Carte Noire has changed hands among several food conglomerates over the decades, moving from Jacobs Suchard to Kraft Foods, and then Mondelez. Since 2016, following antitrust requirements from the JDE merger, Carte Noire has been owned by the Lavazza Group. This acquisition allowed the Italian family-owned company to significantly strengthen its presence in the European market while maintaining the brand's French heritage and local production facilities.
