Superunie private label products

Superunie is a prominent Dutch purchasing cooperative that represents a large group of independent supermarket organizations in the Netherlands. Founded in 1956, the cooperative functions as a central buying power for its members, allowing regional and independent retailers to compete effectively with larger national chains like Albert Heijn and Jumbo.

While Superunie itself is a collective organization rather than a single manufacturing brand, it owns and manages several major private label brands such as g'woon, Melkan, Bonbébé, and First Choice Cola. These products are sourced from a vast network of hundreds of global and local suppliers. Because the cooperative sources everything from fresh produce and dairy to household chemicals and personal care items, the manufacturing of their products takes place in multiple countries depending on the specific commodity and supplier.

Ownership of Superunie remains shared among its member retail organizations, which include well-known Dutch names like PLUS, Dirk, Hoogvliet, and Spar (Netherlands). This cooperative structure ensures that the profits and purchasing advantages benefit the local retailers and, by extension, the Dutch consumer market.
