Getaround Europe

Getaround Europe is a major peer-to-peer carsharing platform that allows private car owners to rent out their vehicles to other users via a mobile application. Originally established in the United States, the brand significantly expanded its European footprint in 2019 by acquiring Drivy, a leading French carsharing startup. This acquisition allowed Getaround to establish a strong presence in markets including France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Austria.

In early 2025, Getaround Inc. faced significant liquidity challenges and announced the cessation of its operations in the United States to focus on its European business. However, by May 2026, the company underwent a major structural change in which Getaround Europe merged with the Danish carsharing company GoMore. This strategic move consolidated the two networks to create Europe's largest peer-to-peer carsharing entity, spanning 11 countries and serving over 5 million users. While the brand name continues to operate in various markets, it is now part of a locally governed European mobility group led by GoMore's executive team.
