KRK Systems is one of the most recognizable brands in the professional audio industry, famous for its signature yellow cones. Founded in 1986 by film mix engineer Keith R. Klawitter in the United States, the brand was built on the need for high-accuracy monitors that could provide clarity for critical listening. Over the decades, KRK transitioned from being a boutique manufacturer for commercial recording studios to a global leader in the home and project studio markets.

While the brand originated in the USA and maintains its engineering and design leadership there, most of its commercial product lines, including the Rokit series, are manufactured in China to maintain an accessible price point for creators. Ownership of the brand changed hands in 2011 when Gibson Brands, Inc. acquired the Stanton Group, which included KRK. As of 2026, KRK remains a core part of the Gibson Pro Audio division, continuing to innovate with products like the Rokit Generation Five and the V Series, which are used by everyone from bedroom producers to Grammy-winning engineers.
