L'Occitane en Provence skincare and body care products

L'Occitane en Provence is an international retailer of body, face, fragrances, and home products founded in 1976 by Olivier Baussan in Manosque, France. Inspired by the natural traditions and flora of Provence, the brand began with essential oils distilled from local rosemary and lavender before expanding into shea butter creams, skincare, and perfumes.

The majority of L'Occitane's core beauty and personal care formulas are manufactured in France, primarily at its key production and research facilities located in Manosque and Lagorce. Certain specialized items or peripheral accessories may be produced in other partner countries.

The brand operates under L'Occitane Groupe S.A., which is headquartered in Luxembourg and Geneva, Switzerland, and was led for decades by Austrian billionaire Reinold Geiger. Following a take-private deal backed by Geiger and private equity firm Blackstone in 2024, the parent entity was delisted from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange into private ownership. In the United Kingdom, operations and boutiques are managed locally through its subsidiary, L'Occitane Limited.
