Fjällräven was founded in 1960 by Åke Nordin in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, initially focusing on high-quality external frame backpacks before expanding into functional clothing. The brand is deeply rooted in Swedish outdoor traditions and is famous for its durable G-1000 fabric.

Today, Fjällräven is a primary brand within Fenix Outdoor International AG, a group listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm. While the brand maintains its Swedish identity, design, and heritage, manufacturing for most of its product lines occurs in several countries across East and Southeast Asia, including China and Vietnam, to meet global demand.
