Nexium Control is a leading over-the-counter medication specifically formulated to treat symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux. The active ingredient, esomeprazole, belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which work by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Originally developed as a prescription medication, Nexium has become a globally recognized brand for gastrointestinal health.
The brand was pioneered by the Swedish pharmaceutical company Astra (later AstraZeneca) and first approved for medical use in the early 2000s. While AstraZeneca remains the developer of the drug, the global distribution and ownership of the consumer healthcare rights for Nexium have shifted. Today, Haleon, a major consumer healthcare company, manages the brand following its spin-off from GSK. Production of Nexium Control occurs at multiple high-standard pharmaceutical manufacturing sites across Europe and North America to meet international demand.
