Pabst Blue Ribbon, widely known as PBR, is a classic American beer brand with a heritage dating back to 1844 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Originally established by Jacob Best and eventually named after Frederick Pabst, the brand became a cultural icon in the United States and beyond.

While the brand's roots are firmly planted in the US, the manufacturing of PBR follows a decentralized model. In Canada, as evidenced by the packaging, the product is brewed and canned in Guelph, Ontario, under license by Stroh Canada (managed by Sleeman Breweries). In the United States, Pabst operates as a "virtual" brewer, where the actual production is contracted out to large-scale brewing facilities like those owned by Molson Coors.

Currently, the Pabst Blue Ribbon brand is owned by Blue Ribbon Intermediate Holdings, LLC. This company is a partnership that includes American beer entrepreneur Eugene Kashper and the private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners. Although ownership has transitioned through various investment groups over the decades, it remains a privately held American entity focused on maintaining the brand's position as a staple in the value-driven beer segment.
