Pantene is one of the world's most recognized hair care brands, originally founded in Switzerland in 1945 by Hoffman-La Roche. The name was inspired by panthenol, a key ingredient discovered during the brand's early research into treating skin burns, which was later found to be beneficial for hair health.

In 1985, the brand was acquired by the American multinational Procter & Gamble (P&G). Today, Pantene is a global powerhouse with a presence in nearly every market. While it has its roots in European pharmaceutical research, it is now headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, under P&G's extensive consumer goods portfolio. Manufacturing is decentralized to serve regional markets; in Brazil, products are often manufactured in local P&G facilities such as the Louveira plant in São Paulo, while other markets may receive products from North America or Europe.
