The brand was founded in 2010 by Jean Valvis, a prominent entrepreneur in the Romanian food and beverage industry. Known for its naturally nitrate-free and low-sodium offerings, the water is bottled at the source in the Păltiniș and Bajenaru springs.

Starting in 2022, the brand reached a significant milestone in its global expansion when PepsiCo entered into a strategic partnership, acquiring a 20% equity stake in the parent company, Carpathian Springs SA. This agreement provides PepsiCo with the distribution rights for Aqua Carpatica in Romania and Poland, with plans to expand into other international markets. Despite this partnership and the global reach facilitated by PepsiCo, the brand remains deeply rooted in its Romanian heritage and production facilities.
