Sally Beauty products

Sally Beauty is primarily known as a global specialty retailer and distributor rather than a single manufacturer. Founded in 1964 in New Orleans by C. Ray Farber (who named the store after his daughter Sally), the business grew from a single storefront into a massive network of over 4,000 stores worldwide.

In 1969, the chain was acquired by Alberto-Culver, which facilitated its rapid national expansion. A pivotal shift occurred in 2006 when Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. was spun off from Alberto-Culver to become an independent, publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. Today, the company operates two main segments: Sally Beauty Supply, which serves both retail consumers and professionals, and Beauty Systems Group (branded as CosmoProf), which sells exclusively to salon professionals.

While Sally Beauty sells thousands of third-party brands like L'Oréal and Wella, it also produces an extensive range of proprietary or 'private label' merchandise, such as Ion, Bondbar, and Strawberry Leopard. These products are manufactured in multiple countries, including the United States, Mexico, and various locations in Europe and Asia, depending on the specific formulation and supplier partnership.
