Acqua di Parma is a quintessential symbol of Italian luxury and the 'art of living' (Arte di Vivere). The brand was founded in 1916 in the city of Parma by Baron Carlo Magnani. He sought to create a lighter, fresher alternative to the heavy, musky scents prevalent at the time, resulting in the birth of the iconic 'Colonia' fragrance. Originally crafted for the personal use of the Baron and his inner circle, the scent gained international acclaim during the 1930s and 1950s, becoming a favorite among Hollywood stars and high society.

In the 1990s, the brand underwent a significant revival under the leadership of three prominent Italian entrepreneurs from the luxury sector: Luca di Montezemolo (Ferrari), Diego Della Valle (Tod's), and Paolo Borgomanero (La Perla). They refocused the brand on traditional Italian craftsmanship and artisanal quality. By 2001, the French luxury conglomerate LVMH acquired a stake in the company, eventually taking full ownership. Today, Acqua di Parma remains deeply rooted in its heritage, with all its perfumes, candles, and leather accessories exclusively manufactured in Italy by skilled artisans.
