Liqui Moly is a world-renowned German brand synonymous with high-performance motor oils, lubricants, and fuel additives. Founded in Ulm, Germany, in 1957, the brand gained its initial fame through its patented liquid molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) additive, designed to reduce engine wear and provide emergency running properties.

In terms of ownership, Liqui Moly became a fully owned subsidiary of the Würth Group in January 2018. The Würth Group, a massive family-owned global business also headquartered in Germany, acquired the brand from longtime CEO Ernst Prost. This transition ensured that Liqui Moly remained under German ownership while providing the brand with the logistical and financial scale of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.
