Amuchina is an iconic Italian disinfectant brand with a history spanning over a century. It was originally invented in 1923 by Oronzio De Nora, a student at the Politecnico di Milano, who discovered the antiseptic properties of sodium hypochlorite. Initially used to combat tuberculosis in the 1930s and later cholera in the 1980s, the brand became a staple in Italian households and hospitals for disinfecting food, baby items, and medical equipment.

Historically managed by Angelini Pharma since its acquisition in 2000, the brand underwent a significant ownership shift effective January 1, 2026. It was transferred to Fater, a joint venture between the Italian group Angelini Industries and the American multinational Procter & Gamble. While the brand remains within the broader Angelini Industries perimeter, this strategic move aims to leverage Fater's specialized consumer market expertise to grow the brand further. Production continues to be centered in Italy, notably at technologically advanced sites such as Ancona.
