Gevalia Mellanrost ground coffee

Gevalia is a heritage coffee brand with deep roots in Sweden, having been founded in 1853 in the town of Gävle. The name itself is the Latin translation of Gävle, where the brand's primary European roastery remains located today. For over a century, it was a family-owned venture under Victor Theodor Engwall & Co before being acquired by General Foods (a predecessor of Kraft Foods) in 1971.

Today, the brand operates under a split ownership model resulting from corporate spin-offs and mergers. In North America, the brand is owned and managed by Kraft Heinz, where it is positioned as a premium Swedish-style coffee. For the rest of the world, including its home market of Sweden and across Europe, Gevalia is owned by JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse headquartered in the Netherlands. The Mellanrost (Medium Roast) variant is one of the brand's most iconic products in Scandinavia, famously known for its 100% Arabica beans and its long-running 'unexpected visitors' advertising theme.
