Homey is a smart home hub developed by Athom B.V., a Dutch technology company founded in 2014. The device connects with home appliances and IoT devices, offering cloud subscription services. In July 2024, LG Electronics acquired an 80% stake in Athom B.V., with plans to acquire the remaining 20% within the next three years. This acquisition aims to enhance LG's connectivity within open smart home ecosystems by integrating Athom's capabilities with LG's AI technology. Despite the acquisition, Athom continues to operate independently, maintaining its brand and business operations.
