Aptamil Brand Origins

Aptamil was originally developed in Germany by Milupa, a specialized infant nutrition company established in 1921. Milupa pioneered modern infant milk formula research, launching the Aptamil brand in 1968 after extensive scientific studies into the composition of breast milk.

Corporate Ownership

In 2007, French multinational food-products corporation Danone acquired Royal Numico (which had previously acquired Milupa in 1995). Today, Aptamil is managed under Danone's Specialized Nutrition division. In the United Kingdom, Aptamil products are distributed and marketed through Nutricia Ltd (trading as Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition).

Manufacturing and Sourcing

Aptamil infant formula sold across the UK and European markets is primarily manufactured in advanced dedicated nutritional production facilities, notably in Macroom and Wexford in Ireland, as well as facilities in the Netherlands and Germany.
