ICA Banan (ICA Bananas)

ICA Bananer are fresh bananas distributed and marketed under the private label of the Swedish grocery retail giant ICA Gruppen. As fresh tropical produce, bananas cannot be grown domestically in Sweden or Northern Europe, and are instead cultivated, harvested, and packaged across major banana-producing nations in Latin America (such as Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Colombia) and parts of Africa before being shipped to ICA distribution centers.

ICA traces its roots back to 1938 when Hakon Swenson's Hakonbolaget merged with other purchasing centers to form Inköpscentralernas Aktiebolag (ICA) in Sweden. Today, ICA Gruppen is the foremost grocery retailer in Sweden, maintaining an extensive network of cooperative-style independent grocers operating under unified branding.

ICA Gruppen AB is predominantly owned by ICA-handlarnas Förbund (the Association of ICA Retailers) alongside AMF Pensionsförsäkring. While ICA products are standard household names across Sweden and the Baltic region, they are primarily available in the United States via specialty Scandinavian import shops or international food markets.
