Brand Origin and Company History

Somfy (Société d'Outillage et de Mécanique du Faucigny) was founded in 1969 in Cluses, in the Haute-Savoie region of France. Somfy pioneered the development of tubular motors for motorized blinds and rolling shutters, growing into a global leader in automated openings, smart shading, and smart home solutions.

Ownership and Manufacturing

Somfy is owned by Somfy SA, a French group controlled primarily by the Despature family through their holding vehicles. Somfy manufactures its electronic components, smart motors, and radio controls across facilities in France (notably in Gray and Cluses), as well as in other European locations (such as Poland and Tunisia) and Asia. The switch shown features the Gradhermetic logo, reflecting Somfy's B2B partnership with the Spanish architectural sun protection firm Industrial Gradhermetic, S.A.E., headquartered in Barcelona, Spain.
