Brand Heritage and Origin

Schneider Weisse is one of Bavaria's most iconic wheat beer breweries. Founded in Munich, Germany, in 1872 by Georg Schneider I and his son Georg Schneider II, the brewery came to life after King Ludwig II of Bavaria rescinded the royal monopoly on brewing wheat beer. Schneider acquired the brewing rights, making Schneider Weisse the oldest dedicated wheat beer brewery in Bavaria.

Brewing and Manufacturing

All Schneider Weisse beers, including their famous unfiltered naturally cloudy wheat beer (Hefeweissbier Naturtrüb), are brewed in Kelheim, Lower Bavaria, Germany. Production relocated there after their original Munich facility was destroyed during World War II. The brewery adheres strictly to traditional Bavarian brewing practices, including open fermentation and bottle conditioning using local Hallertau hops and Bavarian grains.

Ownership and Structure

The brand is owned and operated by Weissbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn GmbH. It remains an independent, family-owned business passed down through consecutive generations of the Schneider family, ensuring that the original brewing philosophy and Bavarian roots remain preserved.
