Brooklyn Spearmint chewing gum

Brooklyn is an iconic Italian chewing gum brand, famously known as "la gomma del ponte" (the gum of the bridge) due to the image of the Brooklyn Bridge on its packaging. Despite its American-inspired name and branding, the product was created in Italy in the 1950s by the Perfetti brothers. The brand played a significant role in Italian pop culture, especially during the 1980s and 90s with its "Gusto Lungo" (long flavor) marketing campaigns.

Today, Brooklyn is owned and manufactured by Perfetti Van Melle, one of the world's largest confectionery and gum manufacturers. The group was formed in 2001 when the Italian company Perfetti SpA acquired the Dutch company Van Melle. Most production for the Italian market continues to take place at their historical manufacturing plants in Italy, particularly in Lainate near Milan. The brand remains a staple in the Italian market, symbolizing a blend of Italian confectionery expertise and classic mid-century American aesthetics.
