Vans is an iconic American brand founded by Paul Van Doren, James Van Doren, and Gordon Lee in 1966 in Anaheim, California. Originally known as the Van Doren Rubber Company, the brand became synonymous with skateboarding culture in the 1970s, particularly through the introduction of the 'Old Skool' model shown here, which debuted the famous 'jazz stripe'.

Today, Vans is a global leader in lifestyle footwear and apparel. While the brand originated in the United States, its manufacturing is now distributed across multiple countries, primarily in Asia, including China, Vietnam, and Cambodia, to meet global demand.

In 2004, Vans was acquired by VF Corporation, a massive American global apparel and footwear company. VF Corporation continues to be the ultimate owner, managing a portfolio of powerful brands like The North Face and Timberland from its headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
