The brand's origins date back to 1941 when the factory was established in the Winiary district of Kalisz. For decades, it has been a staple in Polish households, known for maintaining traditional flavors and high production standards.

While the brand is deeply rooted in Polish heritage and continues to manufacture its products locally in Kalisz, Poland, it underwent a significant corporate change in the mid-1990s. In 1994, the Swiss multinational conglomerate Nestlé acquired the company. Since then, Winiary has operated as a key brand within the Nestlé portfolio, benefiting from international distribution and research resources while maintaining its identity as a Polish culinary icon. Today, Nestlé remains the ultimate owner, managing the brand through its Polish subsidiary, Nestlé Polska S.A.
