The Sensiva product line is designed specifically for skin care and protection in medical and professional environments. Founded in 1889 in Hamburg, the company is credited with developing Lysol, one of the world's first modern disinfectants.

The Sensiva protective emulsion is primarily manufactured in Germany at Schülke's main production facilities. Regarding ownership, the company has undergone several transitions; after being owned by Air Liquide for many years, it was acquired by EQT Partners in 2020. More recently, the investment firm ATHOS (the family office of the Strüngmann family) became the majority shareholder, ensuring the brand remains under German-based investment ownership focused on healthcare and life sciences.
