Withings Body Smart scale

Withings was founded in 2008 by Eric Carreel, Cédric Hutchings, and Fred Potter in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France. The brand became a pioneer in the connected health movement, launching the world's first WiFi connected scale in 2009. The brand is known for its elegant design and high-precision sensors that measure weight, body composition, and other health metrics.

In 2016, the brand was briefly acquired by Nokia and rebranded as Nokia Health. However, in 2018, co-founder Éric Carreel re-acquired the business, restoring the brand name to Withings and ensuring it remains an independent French company. While the product design and engineering take place in France, large-scale manufacturing for their smart scale range, including the Body Smart model, is primarily carried out in China to balance premium technology with global consumer accessibility.
