The name translates to "Forbidden Csíki Beer," a branding decision resulting from a high-profile legal battle with Heineken over the name "Igazi Csíki Sör," which Heineken claimed was too similar to their Ciuc brand. Following a settlement, the brand retained its distinct identity and became a symbol of regional cultural pride. It is produced locally in the village of Sânsimion (Csíkszentsimon) using artisanal methods. The brand is currently owned by Lixid Project SRL, an independent company that maintains its artisanal roots and focuses heavily on the Hungarian-speaking market in Transylvania and Hungary.
