Segway is a pioneering brand in the electric mobility sector, famously starting with the self-balancing Personal Transporter (PT) in the early 2000s. Originally an American company founded on revolutionary gyro-stabilization technology, it changed the landscape of personal short-distance travel. Over the years, the brand transitioned from niche professional use to becoming a global leader in consumer electric kickscooters.

In 2015, the brand underwent a significant transformation when it was acquired by the Chinese robotics firm Ninebot. This merger combined American engineering heritage with massive scale Chinese manufacturing and innovation. Today, Segway-Ninebot operates as a unified global entity, dominating the market for shared and personal e-scooters, with the majority of production occurring in state-of-the-art facilities in China to serve an international customer base.
