Skruf Snus was founded in 2002 by Adam Gillberg and Jonas Engwall in Småland, Sweden, with the goal of creating a premium alternative in the snus market. The brand quickly gained popularity for its high-quality tobacco and distinct flavor profiles. Manufacturing is primarily concentrated in the town of Sävsjö, Sweden, where the company maintains dedicated production facilities to ensure strict quality control.

In 2005, the multinational tobacco giant Imperial Brands (formerly Imperial Tobacco) acquired a significant stake in Skruf Snus AB, eventually taking full ownership in 2008. Today, Skruf is a leading brand in Northern Europe. While the brand remains deeply rooted in Swedish tradition and manufacturing, it is ultimately managed under the portfolio of Imperial Brands, which is headquartered in Bristol, United Kingdom.
